The new owner of the R-S is Journal Media group. Ticker symbol JMG. The stock fell from $12.00 to 8.30 today. Look out below. A pure play in newspapers, like McClatchy MNI is a sure way to lose money.
onion_grower:
Good Morning Bob.
onion_grower:
JMG is like the "bad bank" which gets all the money losing parts. Maybe the S
ProducerBadBob:
Well, if the R-S fails, someone local will find a way to fill the gap with a new Paper Of Record, even if we go back to a reduced publishing schedule, but the focus would be a local one and not regurgitated boilerplate.
onion_grower:
Maybe the Sacramento Bee will buy the R-S from JMG. It could be a Northstate edition of the Sac Bee. Same goes for Ventura County Star. It could be a local edition of the LA Times.
onion_grower:
It would be great for taxpayers if the county published bankruptcy and foreclosures on its website. T

Those legal notices are an important revenue source for the paper of record. It would be great if that revenue went to the county.

I was listening earlier this morning when saving water was the discussion, and I had to chime in say how annoying it is to be on our morning walk and folks have their sprinklers running in the rain. My husband has knocked on more than one door to let them know. They always say the landscaper set t

the timers and they have no idea how to change them. Can you believe the stupidity!

When you first plant a lawn, you water ten minutes every day. Many people have their sprinklers on the same setting. Established lawns need twice a week at most.
Sungold:
I think it depends on the type of sprinklers you have. They put out different amounts of water, some are light, others heavier. It also depends on the need of your plantings. We have a section of beautiful ferns which have hybridized. We collect shower water for them

do not burn oleander !!!
sflow:
its toxic
Sungold:
O wonder if the City of Redding knows that. They collect yard waste and make compost.
Sungold:
Our neighbors have a driveway row full of Oleander and they trim it often
Sungold:
If it is toxic to humans, I wonder what it does to tomatoes and other veggie plants
Sungold:
Great idea for volunteers. Who is your volunteer coordinator?
sflow:
never compost it either
Sungold:
It goes to the landfill, then?
sflow:
yep
Sungold:
Anderson seems to have a lot of positive things happening.
ProducerBadBob:
They've manage to avoid the pitfalls that have ensnared Redding for sure.
Sungold:
Because they are watching us, and learning
Sungold:
Is the population of Anderson growing? What about new businesses?
sflow:
