Good morning. Good news. Shasta is 60% of capacity, 72% of average for this date.
Angel:
That is great
onion_grower:
Shasta is still going up, about one foot in ten days.
Angel:
I don't think it will solve the water problem though
onion_grower:
The lupine are beautiful. They should be at their peak in a week or two.

Last year on this date, the lake was 52% of capacity and already going down. So compared to last year, the North end of the Sacramento valley has more water.

The smelt will be very happy fish they have water for a least one more yeat, lol

The price of walnuts at Winco more than doubled. For some crops, farmers are making more in the drought.

There has to be a convincing reason for price hikes, fake or not

One has to wonder if the idea is to completely crash the existing socio-economic structure, and then come to the rescue and rebuild a shining socialist utopia? These people amaze me, it never works time after time.

Question: Will the Record Searchlight increase in content, possibly more positive news to include good things happening not only locally, but nationally? Also, better coverage of activities happening in the outlying communities, and perhaps more content on local food and gardening?.

I feel the RS has always reported well on the summer fires. It is most important to the community members to know where the fires are heading and which areas are in immediate danger. It gives on time to contact friends who may need assistance with themselves or their animals or shelter.

KRCR7 has always reported well on the summer fires. We don't need the R-S. TV stations are profitable. The newspaper not so much. I would like the KRCR7 website be the place to go for news. Especially valuable coverage of Chico, Red Bluff, Oroville.
ProducerBadBob:
I respectfully disagree. Hard Copy Newpapers have a place.

I am an electronic media person. I have a journalism background. I still say there is a need for a Newpaper Of Record.

I would like to see the newspaper go the way of the Ann Arbor News. Publishes print on Sunday. Online the rest of the week.
ProducerBadBob:
Economic Reality has blunted the edge of the print media, boils down to labor costs. But enduring in depth news served up in more than soundbites...that is where vintage journalism will endure.

A North State edition of the Sac Bee would be an improvement. It does a great job telling the SEIU and Sierra Club views on California. In metro LA and metro Phoenix, there are sections devoted to local news. For example, the Arizona Republic has a section for Scottsdale/Paradise Valley for loca

The main problem with newspapers is that they reflect the politics of Journalism schools when their editors were in college. Journalism schools and education schools at most universities are highly partisan. No one stays in after Journalism 100 unless they agree. When Woodward and Bernstein brou

I can tell you where RS is going, polishing the brass on the Titanic

As fewer and fewer subscribe to the paper, advertisers will look elsewhere. Why advertise in the R-S when less than 20% of households get the paper? What will happen when it is 15%, then 10%?
