Angel: Good morning Onion
onion_grower: The Lake Shasta level has been going down since 4/15. They are releasing more water. The lake is 60% of capacity.
ProducerBadBob: Yes.
onion_grower: The only good news: the lake was 52% of capacity on this date one year ago. So we are better off than a year ago.
ProducerBadBob: Release rates are determined by a number of factors and input from at least a dozen state and federal agencies.
ProducerBadBob: Recreation is very far down on the list of considerations.
Angel: It never has been a priority
onion_grower: More houseboaters spending more money is good for the Shasta county economy. Keep the water in the lake and run the turbines in July when peak power to run A/C is most valuable.
Angel: Very true Onion
onion_grower: I listened to the Whiskeytown Sup. on the podcast yesterday. Collins lake and Siskiyou lake show what could be done with Whiskeytown to attract more recreation dollars to the community.
onion_grower: People who have a wonderful experience camping or houseboating in Shasta county might buy real estate here for their retirement.
Angel: The water slide wouldwork
onion_grower: Those camp sites at Oak Bottom could be upgraded to attract people who want power for their RVs. They could charge more than $16.00 per day. Higher end campers would shop in Redding.
Angel: True
Angel: Time to hit the trails, have a great Humo Day!
Angel: HUMP DAY, lol

Carl: Hi Jarhead and Sunny
Sungold: Women are not designed to have the upper body strength that men do....tests like that are simply stupid. Women can do other things out in the field.
Sungold: Heavy combat is not one of them

Jarhead: spin...spin...spin..... nice spin Rocky
Jarhead: maybe every participant could bring a bucket of water from their swimming pools or toilets to get the 15000 gallons they need...

Nick: How do these pledges translate into identifiable water savings? Will the Refresh website indicate comparisons of use of water by Redding residents for the same period last year to show actual water savings?
Jarhead: after the 'slip & slide' is successful...maybe Redding can implement community Navy showers in the park...I will bring the soap-on-a-rope...
Jarhead: I know....sick....lol
Jarhead: whats new
Gerald: is this serious or satire?
Jarhead: is that what his campaign manager told him to be ? on the fence
Jarhead: sorry Gerald...just having demonstrating my sick humor
Gerald: no this whole discussion....
Jarhead: sadly...its for real

ProducerBadBob: One alarming statement that was made that EVERYONE had to cut their use by 37%. Now...that hits the guy who has been way overwatering a lot less hard than the person who HAS been responsible. I've already been conserving on Centerville CSD service. I can't really cut much more. An across the boa
Gerald: keeps dropping my stream
ProducerBadBob: Across the board cut would be unfair.
Gerald: is this kind of thing normal for you folks up here?
Gerald: echo....bad
ProducerBadBob: OK Rocky's phone connection is not quite the best. Otherwise check your connection, Gerald.
ProducerBadBob: It could be someting in your browser

Gerald: who pays the liability insurance?

Gerald: who pays for the traffic diversion?
SYSTEM: Guest just signed off.
Gerald: what about bathrooms and garbage removal?
Sungold: Not sure what the entire event will be like, but my gut is telling me this is a silly thing to do, and not an idea totally thought through to what the cause and effect will actually be.
Sungold: The junk left behind by the public will be much, traffic diversion and control will cost a lot of money
Gerald: it sounds like this kid is trying to make money by passing it off as "water conservation"
Sungold: While I agree at this point, and that has been my feeling all along, I still find it a dubious event
Gerald: well according to the host this kind of nonsense is standard for the city
SYSTEM: Please welcome sflow who just joined the chat.
Carl: I dont know who said that unless I did with tongue in cheek
Gerald: doesn't this town have waterslides?
Sungold: If you are referring that this is standard for Redding, I have lived here for 52 years and have not found that true at all. Folks are conservative up here
sflow: we already have a waterpark in town!!!!!!
Sungold: At least in my world, as part of the general population
Sungold: Yes, we have a waterpark, but it leaves much to be desired. We took our 12 and 14 year old grandchildren there last summer and after 45 minutes they wanted to go home
Jarhead: spin spin spin...marketing guy...what would you expect...its what he does for a living...thats why he gets along with the lady council(city) so well...
Gerald: well I disagree, as someone up here scouting property this makes you look like a joke
Jarhead: maybe we can steal some more water from Oregon...so we don't have to conserve anymore..
Gerald: I was warned to avoid Redding because of politics and special interests and I'm seeing why....
SYSTEM: Guest just signed off.
Gerald: and he did just say the city picks up the insurance
Sungold: Slide The City says " At the end of the event, the water used in the slide will be treated and then recycled back into the community. Methods of recycling include local reclamation centers, watering city parks, and other places dependent upon direction from city officials" How is that accomplished?
Sungold: How much does this all cost the City to reclaim and treat?
SYSTEM: Please welcome jethro who just joined the chat.
Sungold: Vancouver, Canada says, "In Vancouver’s case, Gowland says, the company was required to acquire a $5 million liability insurance policy to cover the event. Organizers also needed to reimburse the city for costs like wayfinding signage and water, according to Vancitybuzz. The water used was treated
