Good morning Joe

I'd like tohear Doni Greenberg and Carl discuss the future of media. Anewscafe.com has some good pieces. The one on poison oak has beautiful images, something online does very well.
Angel:
I think she would be a great guest
Angel:
Ok so the OC Judge who made the decision to give a piece of work 3 years for raping a 3-yr old has been asked to resign or face a recall!
Angel:
"The Orange County Board of Supervisors have formally demanded the resignation of Superior Court Judge M. Marc Kelly after his decision to give less than half the mandatory sentence to a man who sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl"
Angel:

Angel:
Fb had a petition going around and I am glad, this judge crossed the line!

If you have not noticed they are moving right into all of us. I was in Churn Creek Pharmacy this week and a very dirty homeless guy came in and wanted to use the phone. His bags were all propped up outside against the pharmacy window
Joe:
if you use the sprinklers, the transients will just destroy the sprinklers
ProducerBadBob:
We are getting VERY close to hooded people with axe handles taking the law into their own hands.
Sungold:
I've seem them more and more in the east side of town
Sylvie:
Sounds like people think they are in a computer game. Sense of reality, anyone?
onion_grower:
The homeless and petty criminals are an asset. According to an interview on anewscafe.com, they get $770/month. Those are federal dollars coming into the economy.
Angel:
They are slowly moving from the west side but they are moving
onion_grower:
Many also get SSI and use medicaid, also bringing federal dollars to town.
Sungold:
and they support the community how???
Sylvie:
Is unearned money wise to accept? Is it really good for an economy? Don't people who want to work, need work?
Joe:
cool OG, can we store them on your property since the rest of us don't want to ?
onion_grower:
The Ventura County Star, sister publication of the RS, reported their homeless census is down three years in a row. The homeless are moving to Redding to avoid the gangs in the southland.
Sungold:
Someone told me that every Thursday, a van full of homeless folks arrive here from Reno, and other places. Other cities pay for them to be transported to Redding. Is this true?
Angel:
I wouldn't doubt it, they come and go for the HOPE VAn seeking free medical
Angel:
Time to run, it gets hot out there! Have a great weekend!
Sungold:
Bye Angel
Sylvie:
Cheers Angel !
onion_grower:
Reno gets down to near zero every winter. Too cold for the homeless. Frisco and Eureka are cold, foggy and humid in the winter. The homeless have discovered they get a better deal in Shasta county than anywhere else in the state.
Sungold:
I see them hanging around at the Farmer's Market on Saturdays, they stand around and watch all of us. I suspect it will not be long before they come into the market and start tasting the offerings, without buying

How long before there are smash and grabs?
ProducerBadBob:
Things are reaching powder-keg potentials.
Sungold:
Yes it is Bob and I can feel it.
ProducerBadBob:
Took Brenda to New China restaurant, had not even gotten out of the vehicle before the Panhandler On Duty approached begging.
onion_grower:
We'll just have to get used to it. Avoid certain parts of the city. Just like people who live in the Bay Area have been doing for 30 years. We are long past the point of no return. The cake is baked.
Sungold:
I have a business associate who has been approached so many times, she has one nerve left with this issue. I don't know what she will do if approached again
ProducerBadBob:
WHY in this town, when I step out a door, do I HAVE to do a Threat Assessment Scan as if I am somewhere in Anbar Province???
Craig:
I wonder if panhandlers would be so aggressive if people were openly carrying a pistol.
Sungold:
I'd never openly carry a pistol, that is simply nuts, especially around here.
Craig:
Ive found that most people mind their own business.
Sungold:
A threat assessment scan is a way of life for me, especially at the grocery stores. Holliday Market on Shasta View and Hartnell, has a herd of homeless that attack the trash cans outside of the store every morning
Craig:
Situational awareness is a practice everyone should be doing - even when they dont think anything is wrong
Sungold:
They do not move for anyone, and even park themselves on the sidewalk and won't move even if one has to drive a grocery cart to be put away.
Sylvie:
RE: Anbar... Does it make one feel that one is on her own?
Sungold:
Awareness of your surroundings is fine, but having to do a threat awareness scan all the time is unnerving.
Craig:
well,.. you could baracade yourself in your home....
ProducerBadBob:
The point is...WHY has society hit this point? Maybe I am unrealistic and nostalgic. Having to be on alert is a stress factor that I absolutely hate.
Craig:
I think it is funny that people believe that people have 'evolved' past violence and dont have a need to protect themselves.
ProducerBadBob:
No...the town I grew up in...this down...was never like this before.
ProducerBadBob:
town
Craig:
It isnt that we have arrived at a new place. Human kind has and always will be violent and aggresive
ProducerBadBob:
Because the people who did evil were taken to severe account.
Craig:
And they were opposed with violence under the justification of government authority.
Craig:
As Shasta county cannot bring criminals to justice, the need for regular people to defend the community becomes apparent.
ProducerBadBob:
A Committee Of Public Safety ... and no one really wants things to go there. We don't want to become Them.
Craig:
It is a civic responsibilty, not a government responsibiliyt.
Sylvie:
Does anybody ever feel like one group is being played against another?
ProducerBadBob:
There may be some of that but there are also simply Bad People Out There...and they feel empowered more than ever.
Craig:
Like the police or sheriff deliberately ceases providing service to create an environment where taxpayers beg to pay more to fund law enforcement?
ProducerBadBob:
Care to clarify that statement, Sir?
Craig:
I was responding to Sylvies inquiry.
ProducerBadBob:
Are you talking about Chief Rob and Sheriff Tom specifically? If so I'd enjoy seeing you address them directly with that.
Craig:
Not specifically. But it is interesting that property and violent crime sometimes appear to be a lesser priority to Federally funded priorities, or code enforcment.
SYSTEM:
Guest just signed off.
Sylvie:
Thank you Craig
Sylvie:
/me listens, mindfully
Craig:
Didnt Sheriff Tom ask the BOS for funds for code enforcement purposes-- got told no.

Sylvie:
Thank you all for such an interesting discussion. Must run! Hope to 'see' you all again
Craig:
AFK
Sungold:
The bottom line is that no one who is a good and honest citizen, living and working in this community should have to put up with what many are dealing with at this time with the criminal homeless population. If you have fallen to acceptance of this fact, you are also part of the problem. I prefer
Sungold:
to keep trying to reverse the situation. I have done nothing to deserve this crap.
Sungold:
Thank you Carl!
Jarhead:
well said Sungold !!!
Craig:
I think Bob is more fun when his feathers are ruffled.
Sungold:
Thank you...every now and then I just need to fire off! I get tired of those who are accepting all the lawlessness as if it were OK.
Craig:
Sunny - rejecting what is wrong with our community is the first step in being civically responsible. Only a few will actually step up, because the rest of them are distracted by trivialities and gossip.
Craig:
If it is a drought for people, it is a drought for fish too.
Craig:
Charles has two speeds; Slow and 'uh'...
ProducerBadBob:
Yes, he has a challenge with articulating...but if you have read any of this material...he's an incredibly intelligent and well read person.
Craig:
I dont doubt that he is intelligent. But his delivery needs work ,especially given 15 to 20 seconds to express it.
Craig:
As Billy Shake wrote; Brevity is the soul of wit.
Craig:
Im out. Everyone have a day. Its up to you what you make of it.
