Good morning Sun
Sungold:
I wondered why the City did not have the dedication for the new building inside yesterday. It was so hot and there w ere a lot of older folks there who had to leave due to the heat and lack of enough seats

Good Morning.
Angel:
Good morning BBob
Angel:
They may have figured no one would attend
Sungold:
Too, why did they have that on the same day as the city council meeting, a very important one, and lots of folks attending. I think it would have been much nicer to give RPD their own day and time
Angel:
Cover two birds with one stone
Sungold:
I heard several comments about the poor planning, not too much thought put into it, it seemed.
Sungold:
Does anyone know if that building has a second floor?
Angel:
Well Carl they are cutting the water to a town near Tracy, and they have Senior water rights
Angel:
or get their water from a district with Senior water rights
Angel:
Frankly it is the right thing to do
Angel:
http://www.recordnet.com/article/20150615/NEWS/150619752
Carl:
Why is it right?
Angel:
To do delay the water slide
Angel:
We have a big fire in Trinity, Mountain House may get water shut off to it's residents, just seems like such a waste of water
Angel:
""The upscale community of Mountain House, west of Tracy, is days away from having no water. It’s not just about lawns—there may not be a drop for the 15,000 residents to drink."
Angel:
I think it would be a terrible decision if Redding said yes to permits that would allow the event
Angel:
Just my 2-cents but I think it is terrible timing
Angel:
We talked about this on Saturday, The cities are building inspite of the drought, cities are asserting their rights to build
Angel:
A complicated issue for sure
Angel:
Well time to get out on the trail before it gets too hot!! Have a great day
Sungold:
Ha, I worked at RPD and they needed a new building 30 years ago,.. the place was so bad
Sungold:
It is long overdue and I am so glad they are getting a new facility and not a make over

Sheriff Bosenko was right when he said on KCNR that a lot of pot growers have left the area. Google Earth has new images from NASA, taken 4/15/2015. Take a look at the area of the Bully fire. We save water, welfare costs, parole enforcement, etc when the pot growers move away. The county collect

because REU is owned by the citizens of Redding.... Is it required to turn a profit ?
ProducerBadBob:
The siren was not Brent's ride coming...we have the door open because the A/c is broken.
onion_grower:
The county collects property transfer taxes when those properties are foreclosed.
Jarhead:
thanx Bob...lol

We live in Gold Hills and are not allowed to have solar because the golf club has all the allotted solar for our area.
Jarhead:
because REU is owned by the citizens of Redding.... Is it required to turn a profit ?
ProducerBadBob:
That's interesting!
Sungold:
They allot solar according to areas???
ProducerBadBob:
didn't know there was a quote system, that has to be a CC&R thing.
ProducerBadBob:
quota...that has to be a neighborhood deal not a legal regulation.
Sungold:
Seems wrong.
ProducerBadBob:
interesting because I remember that story very well.
Jarhead:
Can't we affprd to hire a full time CEO for the REU... why is Tippin still occupying this role ?
Jarhead:
afford
Sungold:
Surly, there are other full service cities with issues similar to ours which have a well run utility...are those cities being studied for ideas?
ProducerBadBob:
I worked this story back in 2005:

What a way to attract clean industry up here...another bad idea

Question for Sheriff: The last time you were on KCNR you said the large commercial pot growing activity seen from the air is less. Is the county collecting fines? Has the tax collector reported an increase in property transfer taxes?
SYSTEM:
Please welcome Boo who just joined the chat.
Carl:
OG--will do
Jarhead:
what do we need to do ? to make the supervisors reconsider... lets have a call to action..
Red:
Your right Jarhead, but it's hard for Supervisors like Baugh to call for the help of the people when he has consistently denied the will of the people
Jarhead:
should the city assist with this at all....the city only pays a booking fee....but shouldn't the county and city work together especially since Redding uses the jail as much as anyone
Jarhead:
I agree Red
Red:
it's kind of sad really, if things had been handled differently by the board on other issues, the Les could have had thousands of voters to help support him and the Sheriff on this
Red:
State of Jefferson alone now counts 12,000 signed supporters just here in Shasta....
Red:
Moty doesn't care about data, I don't buy his "fiscal concern" either. Quite curious the real reason he and Kehoe killed this
Guest:
Shouldn't the City of Redding kick in some support for the operating cost of the expanded facility plan? Will they?
Red:
My question is what does Lees, Moty and Kehoe want to use this money for instead of jail space?
SYSTEM:
Please welcome Boo who just joined the chat.
Red:
Guest...you operate under the assumption City of Redding has any money to kick in
Red:
If you look at the looming unfunded liability and debt service of Redding....they're broke
Guest:
The other cities should kick in too - Anderson and the City of Shasta Lake.
Red:
not even counting the loss of revenue coming from things like the PILOT lawsuit
Jarhead:
Red, more reason for them to commit a portion of the budget for this....will handcuff them while in negotiations with the unions, which is coming soon
Red:
Jarhead, the "surplus" money Redding throws around is often funds illegally diverted from REU. They use the utility like a piggy bank.
Guest:
I am not convinced that Crystal Creek can't be rehabbed to add capacity.
Jarhead:
totally with you on that....but the only way to deal with the unions is to not have it available... bankruptcy may be our only possibility moving forward....
Jarhead:
Carl...NO TO STILLWATER !!! I own part of that....lol
Red:
I hope not Jarhead....but I fear you may be right
Jarhead:
have to find a way to break the union contracts....just not sustainable
Red:
a year and a half ago chief Paoletti told me that in 5 years he won't be able to hire new officers because his budget will be gone paying retirements
Jarhead:
the time has come to address the 800 pound gorilla in the room
Red:
What it comes down too, is the board needs the people, but after refusing to use coordination against CARB, refusal to fight water meters and pulse flows, refusal to even listen to Jefferson, they are doing nothing to defend ranchers from GRAP....there is no good will between this board and the peop
Red:
The 800 pound gorilla is we need a new board
Red:
We need a board that will put Shasta First and not rubber stamp everything Commiefornia throws at us
Jarhead:
Vets represent 20% of the county vote.... SOJ has thousands in the county... we can make a difference if we get our act together
Red:
Moty needs to go, that man sat across a desk from me and told me...and I quote "The Constitution is too generic a document to enforce"
Jarhead:
he is just there as a stepping stone anyway
ProducerBadBob:
My personal opinion, not that of the radio station...Moty is the classic Empty Suit Politician.
Red:
This jail expansion was a no brainer
Guest:
Well it was the brainless that voted against it..3
ProducerBadBob:
That was the problem...no brains involved in the process.
Jarhead:
lol
Red:
People need to be asking "What does MOTY, KEHOE and LEES profit, killing the expansion?"
Guest:
Kehoe and Moty both stated in the meeting that is was concerns for the budget that prevented them from voting in favor of the expansion.
Red:
BS
Guest:
Moty said he wouldn't put our County into bankruptcy by overspending.
Red:
that's smoke
Guest:
Great info Tom. Thanks for being on the air.
Red:
Maybe time to look at Jefferson and the fact that Shasta would have a $540 million surplus without California.....just saying
