ProducerBadBob: There is a difference, Sharon. Local municipal agencies are focused on what's known as the WUI, Wildland Urban Interface and are not normally sent on Extended Attack incidents.

ProducerBadBob: Fires run in phases. Initial Attack is the first response to try to limit a new start to a few acres. If they are unable to get the incident contained it goes into Extended Attack with a a Management Team of Type 1 or Type 2

ProducerBadBob: Every type of emergency response is based on the Incident Command System ( ICS) which is a scaled command, control and communications protocol that was developed in California in the 1970's

ProducerBadBob: It's designed so that different agencies can work with a unified structure and can be scaled up and down as needed.
