Our family has lived in Redding for over 52 years, and have played here for over 56 years. The subject of nice retail, restaurants, upscale shopping along the river(like other communities have done successfully) has been discussed for
Sungold:
years. Do we dare to hope anything will ever get done along those lines in the near future?

Old Money plus Never Change Anything Attitudes...
Sungold:
It is a puzzlement to me because when we travel, we love to go to those communities on the OR and WA coast which have those types of places. Nothing better than sitting outside, watching the birds, water ,people, and enjoying a nice meal.
Jarhead:
upscale dining and shopping along the river is my guess, just what Mcconnell has in mind in the turtle bay area... I'm sure if we were a fly on the wall we would hear about plans for them to own that entire area and have upscale shopping occupy the area... could that be related to the 'headwinds' th
Jarhead:
oasis project is experiencing ?
Jarhead:
Oasis developer wants to bring in higher end shopping as well
Sungold:
That is exactly what was planned for the corner of Hartnell and Cypress, the sign is still up advertising an area with all the fun stuff
Sungold:
Oasis does not have the ambiance the river property has
Sungold:
It is a natural thing for Redding to do, we have the beautiful river, the good weather for most of the year and warm nights.
Sungold:
Last week, we went to a function at Turtle Bay in the evening. It was so nice to go outside and just sit and look at the bridge and people watch while sipping wine. It was very relaxing.
Sungold:
The function we attended was so crowded, and the noise level was terrible. That outside area was perfect.
Scott:
I was going to attend myself but had to stay home and deal with the police and someone breaking into my vehicle, in my driveway! When are we going to deal with the crime in Redding?
Scott:
Now every time I leave my house I worry about some dirtbag stealing my stuff
Jarhead:
I agree Scott....by the time they come up with a plan and implement... we will be behind the issue and trying to play catchup... this is ridiculous

We live in a nice part of town and almost every house on our street has been hit
Sungold:
Best to keep cars in garage. We don't even let our overnight company leave their cars outside.
Sungold:
I was just going to ask, how do these funding sites support themselves? Not sure how I feel about asking strangers for money, but I try to keep an open mind until I see how it all pans out
Sungold:
It is a very foreign concept to my generation, and totally unheard of with the parents generation
Sungold:
Are you doing any of the deterrents? Motion sensor lights, security cameras, no cars left outside, lights on timers when you are gone? Even landscaping can help
Sungold:
What about asking for money to pay ones medical bills?
Scott:
We are very well lit and have a indoor security system. We don't have room to park both cars in the garage.
Scott:
I agree that is the best idea but isn't it sad that our community has declined to this poiont.
Sungold:
That is the trouble with the newer homes being built today, they have almost no storage and folks have to use garage for storage. We go around and look at the new homes and are amazed at the lack of storage. Home built years ago have great storage. It is the way it is Scott and we have to protect
Scott:
They actually caught the person who did it but didn't arrest them because they didn't "see" them in the act. What BS
Sungold:
Did he have any of your stuff in his possession?
Scott:
Yep, a screwdriver, but couldn't prove it was mine
Scott:
Where is Charles Bronson when you need him!
Sungold:
Some folks are parking their cars in back of the fences, usually spots used for RV storage or boat.
Sungold:
Can't leave anything in our car, they see one item and they will break in.
