Dave: Redding's economy is closely tied to the regional economy. Put another way, as Chico, Eureka, Yuba City go, so goes Redding. Any city council candidate who claims Redding will outperform the region is wrong.

Dave: Who is Redding's competition? I believe it is Reno, Carson, Sparks. The North State region is not competetive with Reno, Carson Sparks. Young people should get the best education they can, so they can seek a job in a region with better prospects.

Dave: Redding has two big disadvantages compared with Chico and Yuba City. They are closer to Sac, so airport service is better and the physician shortage means a shorter trip for quality medical care. REU means Redding faces huge unfunded pension liabilities from REU employees, something PG&E cities do

Dave: I've already had to take a friend to Sac for an Occuloplastic surgery procedure. As Redding looses specialties like hand surgery and neurosurgery, more people will be making that three hour drive.

Jarhead: Dave, you don't think the ability of Yuba city/Marysville citizens being able to commute to Sac area is an advantage as well?....and a military base or agriculture ...
