Joe: The gun salesman in chief is attempting to jump start the economy by boosting December gun sales
SYSTEM: Please welcome Sungold who just joined the chat.
Sungold: Good Morning
Sungold: Really tired of Obama blaming guns and not people for all this mayhem. How can these people buy all these guns, buy the bomb making paraphernalia online and no one notices. Also, why is it legal and OK to buy those products online?
Sungold: Even "how to make bombs" is available online. That is just crazy!
Sungold: I'm waiting for a legal gun toting citizen to take out a killer before the police a arrive, and saves a lot of lives. What will the Commander in Chief say then?
SYSTEM: Please welcome Betty who just joined the chat.
Sungold: It was so nice to have the rain this weekend...praying we have a rainy week
Betty: Joined a bit late....but wanted to comment on the gun issue. We live in a rural area where common sense has (in the past) played a big part. Now days, however, we've lost that common sense. The City of Redding does NOT allow law abiding citizens to exercise their legal right to a CCW to protec
Betty: That is criminal!
Betty: How dare a city council prohibit legal carry of an item that could save lots of lives!!!!
Betty: I'd like to see this city council reverse that ignorant ordinance.
ProducerBadBob: Monday 30 % Precip. / 0 in Drizzle and areas of fog with a few showers. High 57F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%. Monday Night 20 % Precip. / 0 in Cloudy. Low 47F. Winds light and variable. Tuesday 12/08 63 | 50 °F Tuesday 0 % Precip. / 0 in Cloudy. High 63F. Winds light and variable.
Joe: 1.12" here in north redding for a 2 day total
ProducerBadBob: Wednesday rain 100%
Sungold: I'm not aware of an ordinance to prohibit ccw legal carry in areas where appropriate. Can you give more information please
Sungold: Thanks for the rain report in chat BB
ProducerBadBob: CoR employee handbook states that weapons of any type are not allowed in workspaces I am told.
Sungold: We have listened to Bob Belongie on redding radio for years...even made requests for songs on his program years ago
Sungold: I can understand the City of Redding having that ordinance. That was in place when I was there. Seems wise to me
Sungold: For one thing, if a shooting event happens, and an employee ihas his hand gun out, how are the police going to distinguish him from the killers in that split second they enter the building.
ProducerBadBob: It's a balance, personal protection versus social responsibility...
Sungold: It could be a very dangerous situation...besides now, there are police in and around the building
Joe: sungold, that arguement would say that a plaincloths officer could never use their firearm....
Sungold: Nothing is perfect, now is it?
Sungold: It is simply a scenario which came up in meetings when I was with RPD
Sungold: Employees carrying guns in a workplace does have drawbacks, especially when tempers can flare, and discussions can turn quickly into hot battles over a very short time
Joe: Sungold: that is not a gun issue, that is a people issue
Joe: a people issue that happens with guns, knives, fists, feet, staplers, bats
SYSTEM: Please welcome Mark@HavenHumane who just joined the chat.
ProducerBadBob: hi Mark
Sungold: It is better to have paid security in a building, with hundreds of employees rather than dozens carrying guns. Just my opinion after listening to many discussions.
Mark@HavenHumane: Happy Birthday Bob!!! You are the undisputed King of Bumper Music!! You and Brenda did great job Saturday night at the parade
ProducerBadBob: Thanks, Mark.
Joe: did paid security help the victims in SB?
Sungold: Did San Bernadino have paid security? I have not heard that.
Sungold: Not looking for a kerfuffle her Joe, it is simply my own opinion, as I said...from listening to many discussions at work and many gun classes
Joe: our paid security is called Police and Sheriff. They did a fine job LATER
Sungold: OK, but they are not on site. I am speaking of on site security in a building which has many employees
Joe: agreed Sungold, not a fight. But I don't care to hear people dismissing my right to protect my self
Mark@HavenHumane: Hi There :)
Sungold: Yes you do Joe, and the COR has the right to protect themselves as well, in a way in which they see fit. Hence, the ordnance
Mark@HavenHumane: LOL
Joe: I also do not like to have my right to protection assigned to some overweight night watchman who can't qualify for a better job
Mark@HavenHumane: That LOL was directed at Carl not your commentts btw Joe or Sun
Joe: the COR decision was made in fear, fear of being potentially liable if an employee used a personal firearm
Sungold: I am not talking about overweight night watchman who cannot qualify for a better job. I am speaking of trained security who are on duty during the daytime business hours. Or night time business hours, whatever the case may be.
ProducerBadBob: Joe, with respect..there are people who simply have no damn business packing a firearm or pointy things. They don't have the maturity. Vetting and training every employee who feels the need to self-protect is not a reasonable use of taxpayer funds. Nor is the potential lawsuit cost should things
ProducerBadBob: go sideways...
Joe: Bob is correct and the Sheriff is responsible for making that decision in the permit process for the CCW
Sungold: Thanks BB, you expressed my sentiments perfectly!
Sungold: I have spoken to so many men who think just because they have a CCW, they know how to handle various situations, when in real life they don't have a clue.
Joe: and the same is true regarding the average persons assessment of their driving capabilities in snow
Sungold: I've had a CCW for thiry-five years, taken classes, practice shooting, but there is no way I would ever consider being able to handle a situation like what is happening with all these killers who are sick to begin with
Joe: so the city and county trust the Sheriff to assess who should be permitted to carry a firearm, but somehow if you are a city employee that is not good enough. I don't like the double standards
Joe: Sungold: I trust your judgement on that issue. I am not certain that a CCW being present in the SB event would have made a difference.
Sungold: Time to go...chores are calling me. Happy Monday!
ProducerBadBob: see you sunny.
Mark@HavenHumane: Have to run as well will be listening...Bob have a great day...You too Carl and Linda :)
Joe: great point LInda!!!!! China is pumping out CO2 and pollutants and we are apologizing to the world and taxing our industry
SYSTEM: Please welcome Craig who just joined the chat.
Craig: Carl, I know you are prone to sometimes misspeak, but everyone has the right to bear arms. It isnt 'given' to anyone. And while you can say Tom Bosenko is 'shall issue', it does not make it true.
Craig: If he were shall issue, there would be no need to interview every applicant to size them up after a NICS background check has already been done.
Craig: I would say that even if you werent in an area where carry licenses were readily issued, that it is in your best interest to carry anyway. If the gun youre carrying is yours and you get caught, it is a misdemeanor.. but if you keep it concealed... who is to know?
