Dan: Maybe the fine should be less but the fact that you don't have people running the red light may have saved some lives

Carl: Its the fine that is damaging. It does slow people down and cutw down on accidents.

Dan: No one likes getting a ticket but it does change your behavior

Dan: There is a study on people who run red lights, and it is too bad that we (the public) cannot count on the good people to do the right thing. The cameras and the fine motivate folks to stop!

ProducerBadBob: Dan in principal I agree that they can be a motivator and force multiplier for LEO's. However, the temptation for local government to milk that cash cow to excess, including making sweetheart deals with offshore companies, brings the fairness of the existing systems into question.
