Our neighborhood implemented a volunteer patrol for all night time hours. After three months, it has been reported that for the past 3 weeks we have not had one incident in our area, which used to be a daily occurrence. Especially with stolen cars, and break ins. RPD is working with our volunteer

Redding is just not competitive as a place for the middle class to retire. Redding's retirees are the mentally ill and homeless who retired at 30.

The women who get combat specialties will be mostly officers who are punching the ticket. They will be off to a non-technical masters degree as fast as they can. This is about promoting women to higher levels of command, not making the armed forces more effective.

The marijuana plants can't be shipped across state lines. City of Redding may allow indoor plant propagation.

A state or private prison would work. Say 200 correctional officer jobs, 50 dentists, nurses, technicians, teachers. counselors, etc.

A small prison would have to be in California, but would be a real boost to this community.

Those 250 prison jobs would create 1,000 more jobs in motels, restaurants, etc.

Dave, I have been pushing for a private prison for a while... not in my back yard is all I hear...no long term thinking..

The Reno Gazette Journal (sister publication to R-S) should be required reading for the newguy.

The ideal spot for the prison would be five minutes east of Stillwater. Out of sight, but ten minutes from the airport, so the attorney's private jets could use it.

No that is not an ideal spot for a prison, there are many neighborhoods just 5 minutes from there plus a huge development called Shastina Ranch going up near by.
