Joe: California has a spending problem, not an income problem. Figure out how to get it done with the income you have, just like normal people have to.
guest: because they need most of the money of the tax increase for the unfunded pensions they keep making worse by giving raises...2.5% for management recently... 300 million in unfunded pensions and they give raises that just makes it worse
ProducerBadBob: that is so contrary to the mindset
Dan: When are you going to have Trump on the show?
Joe: I just saw a message that CCW appointments are not available until the 2nd week of March because the Sheriffs office only does them 2 partial days per week, then the issuance is another 60-90 days after that
guest: Joe, thats partly do to the numbers of people applying
Joe: partly due to the agency choosing to limit services to the people
Dan: A volunteer could do the job
guest: I agree...Tom may be open to hearing how that would work
Joe: post interview another 60-90 days is crazy, just to write the recommendation and process the background check?
Dan: Volunteers for the process and sworn to do the approval
guest: its the background check which the sheriffs have no control over
Joe: Dont forget, CCW application is not free to the applicant, the Sheriffs office charges money to cover their costs. Thus this does not cost the office money.
Joe: Background checks in other states take 15 minutes normally and problem ones take 3 days. Not 90 days
guest: but do we really want the cost to increase ?
guest: our DOJ for the state has much to do with our speed, I'm sure
Joe: how would cost increase when the applicant is already paying 100% of the cost?
Dan: A volunteer can do a records check, they are done by records clerks
Joe: "Our speed"? You are with the Sheriffs office?
guest: if we hire more people and the cost needs to be covered...increase in cost
ProducerBadBob: I think that was reference to the county as an entity joe
guest: it was Bob
Joe: budget logic fail guest: if I pay all the costs currently, and you cannot handle the load, thus hire one more person, who process the same number of applications per day, then the cost to the applicant would be unchanged.
Joe: unlesss for some reason the new person needs double the rate of compensation?
guest: if I increase my overhead...I need a way to pay for it Joe...I understand your reasoning but that would not be the way they look at it...
Dan: You hire one person, nothing changes, hire two nothing changes.
Dan: The problem is saying, we need more people but when they get them h, have you seen changes?
guest: that may make sense to us but we are assuming the current revenue pays in full the cost...I'm not convinced that is the case but I can comfortably say that I would expect them to raise the cost if they hire to cover the flow....what if the flow slows down...do they just lay the extra guy off ?
Joe: if they believe the load is temporary, then make a temporary hire
guest: one of the last classes I did had over 39 shooters and classes are filling almost immediately.. mot slowing for a while
guest: not
Joe: More gun control laws being proposed, more reporting on redding crime = more demand
Dan: Since CCC's are so popular, raise the cost and treat it like a business do more earn more, simple
Joe: Dan, Govt is not a profit center....
Sungold: Good thing to look for when hiring a limo...those extra doors.
Dan: Government can be efficient, there is no cap on cost , if the demand is there take advantage of it
guest: the process for hiring either a new deputy or admin personnel is not very easy... I'm sure the budget process must have changes to it and projections for the next few years studied by the county actuarials.. then supervisors and Larry Lees are involved with the approval
guest: right or wrong... its what we need to overcome as county residents
guest: maybe Carl can talk to him on the air...put the pressure on...lol
Dan: Think about it, 2 days a week for CCW, finger prints done by civilians, permit info processed by civilian, approval, sworn.
Joe: The interview should be the longest part of this process, two days a week seems inadequate
Dan: We may need a Administrator if the people in the County are not being served
Sungold: And that is only one story..imagine how many more there are out there like that. Our tax dollars are used for stuff we cannot even imagine
Dan: No jail beds, No Cops, No means to process CCW's, it might be time for a new administrator
Sungold: When I traveled for RPD back in the day, they were so fussy with how you spent your allotted money, it almost made travel miserable. Restaurants hate to give checks for 8 people at a table for instance. Yet, we City workers needed our own receipts for everything.
Sungold: The City Treasurer at that time was a bear!
Dan: Do you have a special license?
guest: Carl, how much did the billionaire tip him ?
ProducerBadBob: Limo Drivers have a special Chauffeur License, yes. They have a TCP number.
Sungold: Ha, limo takes millionaires out to Stillwater, and they see cows!
Dan: I worry about my kids in a limo , like who is driving, what is there background
ProducerBadBob: The letters TCP stand for Transportation - Charter Party. They are issued by the California Public Utilities Commission to companies that successfully meet the criteria for insurance, drug testing policies and a number of others.
ProducerBadBob: There you go, Dan.
Sungold: Anyone who deals with children is supposed to have a background check
Dan: Backgrounds on them?
ProducerBadBob: You can check to see their certification is valid
SYSTEM: Dan just signed off.
Sungold: That can be a fun job to have, but I bet he gets a lot of bad ones too.
Sungold: My husband used to charter plans for his clients, and general public. Some of those flights were awful for him
Sungold: planes
Joe: industries like charter planes and limos is a tough business for those who have to interact with the customers. Not an easy job.

Guest: active shooter being reported at Naval med center San Diego
Guest: but san diego police are saying no officers have been sent to the scene...
Guest: doesn't make sense even if its a hoax
Joe: if it's on a military base, the civilian police don't necessarily respond
Guest: have the dates...will be announced this week
Guest: VA clinic police had some issue with a local reporter...more to come...
