Good Morning
Sungold:
Does anyone tune in to KGO in San Francisco now and then? I like to listen to Ron Owens sometimes early am. On Friday, the station had changed. I thought it had been hacked.
Jarhead:
how did they change

Sungold:
Saturday am it was the same thing, I checked online and found out that Cumulus Media fired all the news crew, over 20 people in total. Now they are running canned talkers, sort of a self improvement preaching with awful music interspersed with the talking. It is awful, repeated over and over.
ProducerBadBob:
?? missed that news was doing other things

Guest just signed off.
Sungold:
Apparently they asked each fired person to give a few minutes of self promotion of themselves and the station saying KGO was entering into a "new era" before they were layed off.

It was not on the news that I had heard. IF you Google, KGO new changes, there are many articles to peruse
ProducerBadBob:
Reading the article now from Billboard. The de-evolution of radio and the imposition of once size fits all corporate radio *sigh*
ProducerBadBob:
*one size
Sungold:
The programming now is so awful, I cannot imagine any station doing that. Canned talking heads and horrible music
Sungold:
Imagine throwing away lives of folks who were at the station for 20, 30 and even 40 years.
ProducerBadBob:
heh...that would be broadcasting

Sungold:
I'm a radio junkie and have followed a lot of stations over the years, one gets attached to their favorite broadcasters, news reporters
Sungold:
Sense of humor and no how to say, "yes dear"
Sungold:
know
Jarhead:
instead of getting different people out there representing you selling ads...they changed the entire station...
Sungold:
Have you listened to the canned talking heads?
Jarhead:
not by choice
Sungold:
sounds like they are in a tunnel
Jarhead:
more raises....for city employees...which will increase our budget issues and pension shortfalls
Sungold:
Robot radio for sure....over and over
Sungold:
Mindless programming going on down there now
Sungold:
KCNR does great programming, always interesting
ProducerBadBob:
This is the line that annoys: "...denying an effort by conservatives that could have increased the number of rural, mostly white districts at the expense of urban, largely hispanic ones." SERIOUSLY???????????
ProducerBadBob:
Article in USA Today...by the way a Gannett paper...the corporation that will soon own the R/S
ProducerBadBob:
Correction they DO own it just have not taken full control yet.
Sungold:
Carel and Linda...are you familiar with Edible Shasta Co magazine? It is equally as wonderful as Enjoy Magazine but it is all about agriculture in and around Shasta Co. It tells about food trips you can take to different farms, ranches, totally educational about agriculture, local vineyards, etc.
Sungold:
The artwork in the magazine is fabulous, even their ads. Might be fun to have those folks on sometime.
Carl:
I have and it is.
ProducerBadBob:
sun and jar you are getting the stream OK?
ProducerBadBob:
test test
Sungold:
yes, it is fine for me....I am in and out of the room but still listening
Sungold:
I have to multi-task sometimes!
Sungold:
Thise McKinleyville are awesome, breathtaking
Sungold:
Those
Sungold:
That little town has grown so much, it is amazing
