dave: CA depends heavily on capital gains taxes from the stock market. Most of the major newspapers reported the story that tax receipts were $1 billion less than budgeted. It is positively creepy that the R-S withholds that from its readers.

dave: The poor performance of the stock market will effect the state. It will also effect CALPERS which last reported 2.4% annual return. The city of Redding and Shasta County will be making up for those lousy results.

dave: Milton Friedman and other economists believe that macroeconomic tricks like stimulus, QE2 and very low short and long term interest rates only produce a temporary effect which reverts to normal. We are now seeing very low growth and a flat stock market because macroeconomic manipulations only produ

dave: The LA Times reported that CA gets 10% of income tax receipts from capital gains taxes. The stock market was pushed up by low interest rates, but that was only temporary and the effect has worn off.

Sungold: On the other hand, a friend of mine had an experience with her elderly dad on Monday morning at a local hospital here, She says she will never go back to that hospital again. He need fluids pumped into him and a blockage fixed and they had him there for 15 hours before he got treatment

Sungold: Made him lay on a plastic covered gurney with no sheet for one thing

Sungold: I understand all that Maria, I volunteered at a local hospital for over ten years, recovery room, and pharmacy. The things that happened to her dad were awful and should not have happened. Years ago they let all the practical nurses go, a huge mistake

Every patient should have an advocate these days, however how many folks can spend 15 hours in a hospital because they are caring for tweaked out homeless folks who are in serious trouble because of their own doing.
