Sungold: When we owned Liquor Barn, U of OR was always an issue. We used to send a rep from our store up there with pamphlets on showing respect for the lake and campgrounds. It did help.

Guest: just heard on this station that the now majority of 18-34 year olds are living at home... having never moved out ....go figure

Sungold: There vacation times are always different than our students. This trashing issue is not new. I hope someone goes up to speak with those students, they need to hear that they are not welcome here if they continue that behavior. The resorts should have a little talk with them before they take posse

Angel: No way, the kids, it is a crime and bottomline they need to be held accoutable, all of them

ProducerBadBob: May be necessary...as much as I hate the idea...to impose a "clean up your crap" fee on houseboat rentals spread out over the year.

Guest: make the resorts pay for the cleanup...maybe they will put a little pressure on these kids or not rent to them at all... most VRBO's would never rent to them... but the resorts want the money

ProducerBadBob: Well...that is a reason for going into business...but your point is taken...the rentals cause damage and there needs to be a way to clean up the leftovers.

Angel: Those who rented the boats are responsible, they leave deposits for the boats, they will make sure the place is clean before they leave

Sungold: Maybe they need to register somehow and that person would be responsible for making sure the boat and campgrounds is left like they found it.

ProducerBadBob: This has been talked about for 25+ years now

Angel: The person who rents the boats have to leave a deposit, they should have to sign some sort of respect for the environment while out there

ProducerBadBob: I have video footage from the Coast Guard Auxiliary Patrols that would make ya blush

Angel: I have been in homes that have been foreclosed, not much will make me blush

Sungold: Our employees at Liquor Barn were instructed to ID everyone carefully. Sometimes those OR students did not like being refused. They were then told to go somewhere else. Don't know why it was that particular bunch that gave us the most trouble.

Angel: Glad they took great care, it is your license not theirs

Guest: or we could take a couple hundred to oregon and trash that little postage stamp of a state... lets just take them over...invade...turn them into Northern Cal and make all those liberals move to Idaho... rally at the Border !!!! lol

Sungold: Our store manager always dreaded this time of year when they came down, and he was the one who came up with the idea of going up two weeks prior to their arrival to hand out pamphlets and speak with the students.

Sungold: Acting like they do in their home state is not the way to handle the situation...we would simply stoop to their level

Carl: Resorts have upped age for rentals. Holding them responsible like holding gun shops responsible for mis use of guns

Angel: It will not be hard for Forest Service to cite them, I actually think the penalties for leaving garbage are much stiffer on a National Lake

Sungold: There is also a volunteer lake patrol group, they should be out in full force and be watching for such things. Slaughter Island is always a trouble spot.

Angel: US Forest Dept, should be taking the lead, all kinds of things they can be charged with enviromentally

Angel: Sheriff boats were out there

Sungold: We practically lived on the lake when our kids were home.....we saw a lot of stuff. I hated it when the students actually roamed around nude on the houseboats. Our kids saw that and it really made me mad

Guest: they already hold them responsible with deposits on their own property... that lake is why these groups are in business...like holding gun shops responsible... poor simile...you are better then that

Guest: between the two of you thats the best you could do... maybe we could get a college student to come in on certain mornings and help you two

Angel: We had a houseboat, we were out once and a boat load of kids came in out cove and launched water balloons at the boat. They left in a big hurry when they heard gun fire

Angel: Once again, society giving kids a pass! These kids need to be held accountable!

Sungold: There is no excuse for the students leaving that mess, those boats have garbage bags. The kids are simply too lazy to haul the trash back to the disposal units. They probably are kids who have never had to do any chores at home.

Angel: True story

Sungold: Another thing the students used to do (not only students) is follow our boat when we had a skier to jump our wake. Our boat was big and made a big wake. Used to scare the skier and I worried there would be an accident

Sungold: Those jet skis can cause issues when they follow the boats to jump the wakes

Angel: Kids are kids but leaving a mess after camping, that is bs and Forest Service needs to go after them. I know as a boat owner they have no problem going after us!

Angel: Hate them Sun, they are so annoying

Sungold: That is so true.

Sungold: When our kids were older, they asked to go up to our boat which was house in a boat shack at Turntable Bay. One time, they left a mess. Dad came unglued and made them and their friends go up and spend the day cleaning up the shack and washing the boat. They NEVER did that again

Sungold: Yeo, he rarely gets mad, but sure did that time. He went up with the kids and made sure they did a perfect job. Kids were all exhausted, his standards are high!

Scott: Gregory is a nice guy but Congress is way out of his league. He should get his feet wet first with City Council or BOS. He would do a good job.

Scott: If he really wants to effect change, it happens first locally. He sees what is going on locally and is much better suited to win local elections
