Onion_grower: I think Jones was wrong. Shasta county GIS parcel viewer shows the property lines of all parcels in the county.
TearSignsDown: lol
Onion_grower: The map is a Google Earth image overlaid with the parcel map.
TearSignsDown: this is a joke !!! whining at its best... focus on the REAL problems
Onion_grower: Your deed has a legal description of your parcel, usually referring to a survey map. The parcel map and survey map are the same, except there is more detail in the survey map.

Onion_grower: Some people think they own the city or county owned strip of land that runs between your property line and the edge of the road or the edge of the shoulder.
Sungold: I hate all the signs all over. they get stolen, misplaced to other people's yards, and I see them all over town, corners, etc.
Onion_grower: You only own what is described in your deed. You don't pay taxes on that city or county owned land between your property line and the road.
Sungold: Yesterday I saw Tate and Winter signs right next to each other on a commercial lot
Onion_grower: Anyone is allowed to put up signs as long as they are on the city or county owned land in the road right of way. You are trespassing if you cross the property line and put up a sign on that side of the property line.
Onion_grower: The picture of the sign Jones put up is on the city owned right of way. It is not on his property.
Onion_grower: Usually the right of way is at least 15 feet from the edge of the road.
TearSignsDown: it is my understanding they must be on private property with the owners permission...I was told that it could not be on the 'shoulder' of the road (caltrans or city) property
Onion_grower: Jones has the right to remove a sign on his property or the neighbor's property if he has permission. He does not have the right to remove a sign from the city or county owned right of way.
Onion_grower: The city or county has the right to remove a sign from its property, the right of way, but this is very rarely enforced during election season.
Onion_grower: The shasta ccounty parcel viewer is a great way to see what is private property and what is not. It helps the city and county to knwo where they can cut trees or grass without trespassing on private property.
Onion_grower: I think Jones is one of those guys who thinks there is no property line between his parcel and the road. He should read his deed.
Sungold: I just heard Trish say it is not ok to put up signs on city or county owned property.
Onion_grower: I would say most campaign signs on roads are on the city or county owned right of way, not on private property.
TearSignsDown: I think we have already given this more time than it deserves... we have significant problems in this community and the nation... this BS is just stupid and brought on by distracted idiots....focus on what is important
TearSignsDown: Veterans Hall....TONIGHT at 1800 Candidates Forum...complete answers to your questions...no one minute or 30 second limits on your concerns...
Onion_grower: In the picture on Redding.com Jones put up a NO D sign on city owned property of the right of way, on the city side of the property line. I doubt the city will be removing that sign from city owned property.
Onion_grower: I think the city or county remove campaign signs from the gravel shoulder of the road, but not from the part of the right of way between the shoulder and the property line.
Onion_grower: Typically, the right of way is wide enough to put utility poles and waterlines a safe distance from the road. The city or county grant an easement for utilities to use that city or county property.
ProducerBadBob: Onion is a veritable fountain of information...
Sungold: and stuck on signs LOL
Onion_grower: Bob might enjoy a segment on the Shasta County GIS parcel viewer for his computer show. It solves a lot of problems between neighbors.
TearSignsDown: city council
TearSignsDown: Hillary turned down our invitation
TearSignsDown: something about a restraining order against Bill and one of our council women...not sure who it was
Carl: Which city? Anderson has election going on. 3 spots and 4 cadidates
Sungold: Tear signs, what are you talking about?
TearSignsDown: redding city council...Cadd and McElvaine but ladies apparently have a Pac fundraiser or something to take their time tonight...life is about choices.. I'm sure the Veterans won't hold it against these ladies on Nov. 8th
TearSignsDown: Sun, there is a candidate forum for Redding city council tonight at the Vets Hall....voters get to sit down with the candidates and get real answers
