Most of the uncounted ballot are vote by mail. They compare the signature on the envelope with the signature on the voter registration card before they open the envelope and put the ballot in the counting machine.

Most people in Shasta county vote by mail. Many deliver their ballot to a polling place. You get the I voted sticker plus have the experience of voting at a precinct without standing in line.

I was a poll worker in four elections, so the nuts and bolts interest me. Vote by mail tend to vote more conservative. Older, more experienced voters tend to vote by mail. First timers tend to go to a polling place. Hillary's lead in the popular vote could shrink a lot.

Frankly, i did my job well, was familiar with pay raises and promotions and I got them myself. I did see a lot of lazy department heads, but most of those were cleaned out when Mike Warren came on board. He consolidated a lot of departments and a few people were demoted

You are right BB....most of the civic workers I worked with were hard working and very dedicated people. Many worked longer hours and often volunteered their time for many projects. Most of the fluff was at the top.

I never worked with her but did know her. My work was focused with the Redding Police Department for the first few years until my job went City wide. Then I was more exposed to City Hall which was a different atmosphere from law enforcement, and a shock!

If you go to the Shasta county elections results site, you will see that there is often an election in odd numbered years. It isn't always. Those non-general elections have poor turnout. They tend to put school bonds on those elections to sneak them by having only the supporters vote.
