Sungold:
Good Morning! Brrrr....freezing this morning. Even the dog was curled up in her bed and did not want to budge.
Sungold:
Ha! Van Gents live just down the street from us! They won both parade and national contest
ProducerBadBob:
address?
Sungold:
Very hard working family, their side yard usually looks like a factory sometimes. Always building something, even the three boys get envolved
ProducerBadBob:
at least the street?
Sungold:
Corner of El Verano and Saratoga. You can look them up...Steve and Michelle Van Gent....can't miss the house or the traffic!
Sungold:
The display has been up for a long time already, because of the contest. Really made an impact on a few streets while they were being judged, Closed one street totally to traffic.
Joe:
sorry bob, was afk. They have a website for their christmas lights: http://www.reddinglights.com/
Sungold:
It was a matter of having patience to get through it, and to keep the unhappy neighbors calmed
Joe:
760 channels of computer controlled light outlets that are synchronized to music. This is done by linking a master computer to 95 microcomputers
Sungold:
They are a family of engineers and computer geeks.....all hard workers
Sungold:
The impact in a week or so on the neighborhood is tough, especially when the tour busses start coming in and have to park a few blocks away, with engines running to wait their turn.

I can't even imagine what it will be like this year.
Joe:
that part does not sound fun Sungold
Sungold:
Patience is the name of the game. It will be over in a few weeks. The public is very messy, they leave junk behind and the neighbors who walk pick up what they can as do the Van Gents
Jarhead:
Nice people....and so are their neighbors...
Sungold:
they have been at it for many years, and it just keeps growing each year. this year they had their float parked out in front of a few houses really late at night, people worke up and were terrified with all the flashing lights coming into their bedroom. Had no idea what it was.
Sungold:
But all and all, it is fun, and the kids love it. On weekends they go until 11 pm
Jarhead:
Sun, it was July when those thieves were going thru the neighborhood asking for money and Van Gents were working on their Xmas float then...that is when I met them
Joe:
thieves.... ugg... they hit our neighborhood mail box cluster so now I have to drive downtown to get mail
Jarhead:
most important position is the selection of Carson for HUD spot... if Dr. Carson does his job the 2020 election would be over...bringing minority votes over to the good side
ProducerBadBob:
According to the LA Times...our esteemed State Legislature including Gov Moonie...Highest paid in the nation...Your Tax Dollars At Work.
ProducerBadBob:
that is such a warm and fuzzy feel
Sungold:
Your right Jarhead, they started very early. They had gone around to neighbors to let us know about the contest. We all appreciated that

The purpose of Obamacare was to raise demand for single payer. It never was intended to be a working scheme.
RTE:
Carl has a socialist on
Onion_grower:
Obamacare did nothing to control costs, as intended.
RTE:
Canadas system worked only because it could rely on the US system for medical research
RTE:
We need a medical insurance that allows competition in the market to keep costs low. Socialism will only handicap us
RTE:
If you have it controlled by individual states and different insurance providers, then we will find the best way in the buch. If the government controls it we will have costs cut by the government saying this guy over here doesn't need care because he's getting old.. What is this guy thinking
RTE:
bunch
RTE:
We didnt' allow over the state trafding
RTE:
wucg was the handicap
RTE:
sorry
RTE:
we didn't allow over the state trading
RTE:
What I think the government could do to centeralize is just have oversight
RTE:
develope a computerized records system that assists, but doesn't control
RTE:
The comment that capitalism didn't work was wrong because we really didn't have a plan that kept any real unity.
RTE:
What I disagree with when it comes to socialists is that they forget that we are supposed to be a union of sovereign states. The US didn't create the states, the states created a union.
ProducerBadBob:
I am a fan of tech, but the cold constant eye of The Corporation on every aspect of my life is...to say the least...unsettling.
RTE:
Socialism is close to having a king... it eventually leads to government or a king assigning what your career will be, what you will eat, and control us like eh USSA
