ebay_shopper: Listened to the podcast of Shreder from Fri. She is shamelessly sold out to city employees.
Carl: Sullivan
ebay_shopper: Redding needs to reinvent itself. It is a government, healthcare and retail economy.
SYSTEM: Please welcome Sungold who just joined the chat.
ebay_shopper: Online shopping is growing fast. Brick and mortar is in steep decline. Sears stock lost 6.5% on Fri, another 2% today. Google news "Sears" for all the stories about impending bankruptcy. What will Mt. Shasta mall look like when Sears goes BK?
Jarhead: new searchlight site sucks !
ebay_shopper: USA today has a story about Costco losing 6% this year. The company has not kept up with online.
Sungold: I don't know who designed the new layout for the RS but it is so elementary.....my Neighborhood Watch newsletters I did for RPD every three months looked better! Very thin paper, so uninteresting and leaves a lot to be desired.
ebay_shopper: Costco opens 30 stores every year. Poor performance means it may be less in the future. Redding may be on the list, but I doubt it will ever make it into the sweet 30.
Sungold: They are hanging on by a bare thread.
Jarhead: Sun, it that something ...just amazing that they could think this was better than what they already had...
ebay_shopper: Macy's will announce 100 stores closing in January.
Sungold: You got that right Jarhead....I was shocked when we picked it up at the store
Sungold: I am curious if anyone knows why KQMS is on three stations now, two FM and one AM. Why is that necessary?
ebay_shopper: I love shopping online. It is so convenient. Shop on Amazon which has great reviews. Then look for the item on Ebay. Chances are the total cost, including shipping and taxes is less on Ebay.
Sungold: I know nothing about radio station numbers or how they operate, so not criticizing, just curious.
ebay_shopper: Radio stations are doing badly. Look at the stocks of Iheart media and cumulus. They are worth less than 10% of what they were ten years ago.
Sungold: I shop online all the time when I can. It is safer, convenient and easier on my knees. I used to be a huge proponent of local shopping but this is easier for me now.
Sungold: Too bad, when I tell people I heard it on the radio, they look at me like I am nuts. Some say they don't even have a radio in the house. I grew up with radio, that is all there was and I still love it.
Sungold: And I am sticking with it!
ebay_shopper: The more people shop online, the more they like it. As you get experience, you learn how to get even better values. All those UPS and postal service trucks filled with online purchases zipping around town.

ebay_shopper: Remember all the complaining about the post service distribution moving to SAC? My mail service is just fine. The Record Searchlight always picks losers.
ebay_shopper: One piece of excellent news today. Congress passed a law and Obama is expected to sign it. It includes funding for Sites reservoir which LaMalfa advocated. Barbara Boxer is having a fit.
ebay_shopper: If Boxer is against it, there is no better evidence that it is a good idea.
Sungold: Mail server is slower. People mail us things and they get here later than usual. It is crazy that Redding mail has to go to Sacramento then back to Redding
Jarhead: is that the 'cupcake' generation...the beginning of the end....lol
ebay_shopper: Redding city council should be reading Investors Business Daily, Forbes, Fortune, WSJ, Bloomberg, etc. They are talking about "death with dignity" "death watch" "why did Sears fail"
Jarhead: Ebay....the council gets all their reading from the Union newsletters...they don't like outside influence
ebay_shopper: Good one Jarhead
ebay_shopper: Schreder has no shame. She represents the unions. Plunder the taxpayer. Redding's future is not worth thinking about. Chico is a good example of what happens when the unions and city staff own the city council and there is no one looking at the long term interest of Chico.
ebay_shopper: Chico municipal bankruptcy will be before R
Sungold: Our son and his wife are getting their package on Thursday. Hope the porch pirates do not get it first!
ebay_shopper: Chico should be thriving. It has a University. Butte county has a wealthy agriculture segment and lots of prime ag land, canneries, nut processing plants, rice plants, etc.
Sungold: That's right, no reason for Chico to be bad off
Sungold: Plus those college students spend money too
Sungold: I am very happy we are going to have a president who respects the four star Generals. The rest remains to be seen
Jarhead: little lyndsey graham...Mcain (who I have never trusted) and Schumer are the ones pushing the investigation into Russian hacking...these political establishment morons are what needs to be targeted...these are liberals in costume...emotional idiots
ebay_shopper: When the president travels, it is two 747s, plus a C-17 for vehicles. Often another plane for Michelle and the kids. When they land at PHX or LAX it disrupts the travel for tens of thousands of people.
ebay_shopper: When Bush flew into RDD in 2008, does anyone remember how many planes? It was just a photo op.

ebay_shopper: Sears stock down another 3.8% today.
ebay_shopper: A supposedly mature lady asked me to take her to lunch. She spent more time taking calls from girlfriends than she did talking to me. She was mad at me that I didn't ask her out again.
Jarhead: I feel like going bi-polar when people do that
Sungold: Years ago, when cells were fairly new, I was in a coffee shop ordering my coffee and a little sweet to go with it. A lady was right behind me talking to someone about the details of her relatives operation. It was so gross. I seathed for a bit then finally turned around and said in a loud voice, :
Sungold: Lady, take your conversation outside!"
Jarhead: carolyn will lower the boom on that Jarhead...lol
Sungold: She scrambled!
ebay_shopper: What is the etiquette? When your date is talking to her girlfriends on her cell phone, am I supposed to excuse myself so I don't overhear?
Sungold: Unless she has an emergency, that is rude. I told our adult children, "you are visiting me now, you just left Sacramento three hours ago, it is my turn!"
TickTock: ebay_shopper - twice you've said Schreder when it was SULLIVAN that was on Carl's show. Carl even corrected you on that.
Jarhead: schreder is backed by the unions...so that wasn't a misleading comment
Jarhead: he was incorrect thinking it was her on the show on friday...when it was Francie... but then even Francie doesn't remember that she was on the show so lets consider them even for now...
Jarhead: kids are ALL familiar with him...girls talk about him all the time
SYSTEM: Please welcome TickTock who just joined the chat.
Jarhead: I lived in my car for a when I was getting back into school after the Corps...went to the YMCA to take showers...they eventually gave me a job coordinating youth activities and the rest is history...lol
SYSTEM: Please welcome TickTock who just joined the chat.
Jarhead: now I live in a jeep
TickTock: Well Jarhead, if you're going to talk about someone in government, you should get the name right. Unless you want people to think you're an idiot.
SYSTEM: Please welcome TickTock who just joined the chat.
TickTock: Ebayer I mean...
TickTock: I don't think ANY members of the city council have accomplished a thing. Do we feel more safe downtown or on the river trail? NO.
TickTock: Has the council reduced the amount of property crime or police response times? NO
TickTock: Has the number of homeless loitering, and defecating, and ruining people's businesses decreased? NO
TickTock: The County Bd of Supervisors hasn't done any better on public safety either.
Jarhead: we just have BAD leadership in the public service sector...it would be funny if it wasn't so sad
Jarhead: the fact that they would listen to someone like rocky says it all...lol
SYSTEM: Please welcome TickTock who just joined the chat.
TickTock: I don't think Rocky Slaughter should be their scapegoat. They just throw their hands up and say "there's nothing we can do". Vote them out if they can't get anything done to improve public safety and the homeless problem.
Jarhead: these people should have been voted out months ago
Carl: Rocky is not the scapegoat. Lack of trust is.
TickTock: How do we know the GNRM isn't making the homeless problem worse? They don't require people to get sober or clean before getting services. Maybe they are the ones "feeding the bears" on Hwy 273.
Jarhead: no one said rocky is the blame....the comment was making the point that the fact they would take direction from him puts their decision making in question
Jarhead: but I do find Rocky's comments about blaming the city attorney for not writing/framing a more effective statement for the ballot...lol
Jarhead: definitely didn't see that coming...lol
Jarhead: sleeping on the floor with a roof over your head...could be much worse
TickTock: Sure looks like a lot of wandering "trimmigrants" and other vagrants hang out at the GNRM on So Market Street. What a nuisance.
Sungold: That is what they do in many places in Europe
