Carl: Good morning

SYSTEM: Please welcome drmaria who just joined the chat.
ProducerBadBob: Hey doc
drmaria: BB!!!
drmaria: Hey Sir
drmaria: Hello Linda!
SYSTEM: Please welcome Sungold who just joined the chat.
Sungold: Happy Wednesday all
Sungold: Our son took a picture of the top of my car over Christmas in Sacramento. It had a heavy frost and he used a close up lens. Beautiful photo with all sorts of detail of the ice crystals. Worth framing!
Sungold: We keep our vehicles inside so I have never seen that before on our cars. Very interesting!
Sungold: BB...what do you think of the Amazon Echo gadget? I just heard that Amazon has been asked to release information from a customers Echo regarding a murder case. I did not know they were storing the information.
SYSTEM: Please welcome Ebay_shopper who just joined the chat.
Sungold: Just how much conversation are they gathering from Echo. Can they only gather when you say Echo, or is it on all the time?
Ebay_shopper: Facebook is replacing the RS as a place to discuss crime and politics. The RS does not want to offend advertisers.
ProducerBadBob: The Amazon Echo is activated by the keyphrase "Alexia" According to the manufacturer's literature. Now maybe they have been hacked by the NSA and are recording every utterance...you takes your chances.
ProducerBadBob: The internal firmware supposedly listens for the keyphrase.
ProducerBadBob: Correction "Alexa"
Ebay_shopper: The other day, on FB, there was a discussion by liberals who want UC to open a campus in Redding. It is equally as impossible as congress approving State of Jefferson. State of Jefferson would mean the U.S, adding a bunch of states. UC and Jefferson not going to happen.
Ebay_shopper: Any new UC campuses would be in hispanic cities. The number one goal of California is to eliminate the achievement gap.
ProducerBadBob: How does SoJ address the pensions that will be owed to retirees who will be residents of the New State, especially if the old CalPERS system completely collapses. Who pays the bills?
Sungold: It used the word Echo to take requests, as well. I saw it in action over Christmas. A word which could be used in general conversation that one may not want recorded
ProducerBadBob: OK when you set up the device you have the option to either use 'Alexa" or "Echo" and I think one more option as triggers.
Sungold: Yep, I heard that. Interesting that Amazon will not release what the FBI requested for the murder case. Makes me wonder just how much this thing is recording.
Ebay_shopper: The only court with jurisdiction for disputes between the state is the Supreme court. Adding one or more states would tie the supreme court up in knots. Just one of the implications of the State of Jefferson,
ProducerBadBob: The "wake word" is what it's called.
Ebay_shopper: States om second line of my last.
ProducerBadBob: Well, just as the case in using Gmail, assume that it's pretty much like a conversation in a crowded restaurant. Your option is to refuse the tech.
Ebay_shopper: When West Virginia was created in the civil war, states did not have huge assets and liabilities to divide.
ProducerBadBob: This is not a brand new thing. Samsung ran afoul of something like this with their Voice Command Smart TV more than a year ago. Microsoft's Cortana will occasionally pipe up with something, as will Apple's Siri and "Hey Google"
Ebay_shopper: The Marines in Bridgeport got seven below zero last night.
ProducerBadBob: Government workers have to use their issued phones for all work-related things now so that there is a record. So Brenda now has to go around with two phones.
ProducerBadBob: For the record, she prefers the Android OS over the iPhone.
ProducerBadBob: interestingly I prefer the Android PHONE but the iPad serves my purposes better because I also have a MacBook Pro.
drmaria: BB....so.....then you prefer iPhone --LOL!!!!
drmaria: John Kelly!!!!
drmaria: Any taps yet for VA?
ProducerBadBob: By the way, for the first time, Consumer Reports did not recommend the new MBP
ProducerBadBob: Actually Doc, I have many wrenches in the toolbox
drmaria: LOL...so what did they recommend?
ProducerBadBob: The Surface, which I admit I've never touched yet.
drmaria: Yes, I have had a MBP since 2012 - so I have not even looked at The Surface...
ProducerBadBob: By the way, my 5 year old Dell 17" is locked in the Microsoft Update Death Spiral and I have yet to get to fixing it. *growls in irritation*
drmaria: I don't know if I can go back to a PC. From a former HP Employee...LOL
ProducerBadBob: I have a gaming grade PC that I use for video editing (and gaming... =) ) But my day to day machine is the MBP
drmaria: Totally BB! My office front desk has a PC, and my personal is the MBP.
drmaria: Andrews
drmaria: BB: I already ran out of memory though and need to save for an updated Mac though...that's the problem with MBP
Ebay_shopper: Bob, what is your opinion of chromebook? Conver pc to chromebook? For casual browsing that is all most people need.
ProducerBadBob: OK Chromebook, if you are a user of Google Docs and have a phone that can work as a Hotspot, I think it's a very viable solution. Chromebook is essentialy a tablet on steroids.
SYSTEM: Please welcome OWC who just joined the chat.
drmaria: Hahahahahahahahaha Caffeine!!! #CAF
ProducerBadBob: I use Google Drive/Docs because it is very cross-platform
ProducerBadBob: You can get a Chromebook for about $250 that is a great travel option with good battery life and a nice display and keys.
drmaria: ^^Thanks BB. Nice thought for my treatment rooms as well.
SYSTEM: Guest just signed off.
ProducerBadBob: You're not gonna be playing Skyrim on this thing but it's great for web surfing and staying in touch and light photo editing.
Sungold: Is the station requesting one comes on with real name?
ProducerBadBob: ????
ProducerBadBob: The top rated CB's are from Acer, Dell and Samsung.
drmaria: Let's name some Warriors too
Sungold: Something Carl said about the chat room this morning
ProducerBadBob: Very clear? okies
