Carl: Wow--what a way to start the day...........

Recall: lol...Mariah Carey...train wreck in slow motion... she was lip synching...and she was smashed before she went on....watched the interview before she performed and she was out of it
Mike: Who cares
SYSTEM: Please welcome ProducerJustBob who just joined the chat.
Recall: you do.....I can tell
Mike: Wasn't that April LaFrance?
Recall: city council is about to embark on a very exciting year...
Recall: Mike...yep
Recall: first thing congress did was get rid of the oversight and ethics committee... not a great start
Mike: One person can't do anything, let alone a congressman from northern california
Recall: Dale Ball...ask him what he would do different in the city council
SYSTEM: Please welcome oonion_grower who just joined the chat.
oonion_grower: Please have Larry Lees and the county attorney to talk about a county jail expansion. The only way to see it is a county wide sales tax.
Mike: How about someone from CHP. Have them explain why they don't enforce the speed limits on I-5. Theres plenty of revenue to be had.
Recall: Mike...since when do they not enforce the speed limits ? I see people pulled over all the time...
Mike: How about an update on the "in-lieu of" lawsuit
Recall: Walt Mcneil
oonion_grower: Forget about Starman. The ball is in the county's court with the defeat of measure D.
oonion_grower: A city tax to pay for a county jail is a Walt Macneil lawsuit magnet.
SYSTEM: Please welcome drmaria who just joined the chat.

Mike: an we tax locals enough to combat the stupidity that flowson to us from Sac/Wash DC
Sungold: Carl, you and Linda should go see the Rose Bowel parade on one of the tours. It is amazing. They take you into the warehouses to watch the floats being decorated and to the flower storage areas. It is so amazing! Very fun tour and the parade is grand.
Carl: Take Back Redding--Anje.
drmaria: LOL....Just Bob....so 80's
oonion_grower: Prop 46 was just the first round of Sacramento pushing crime and criminals into the counties. There will be more schemes out of sacramento to release prisoners and the counties will have to raise taxes and build jails for those criminals.
Sungold: We drove down in our RV along with another couple in theirs. Parking was at the race track, they had all sorts of activities for us and even a dinner.dance scheduled. We celebrated New Years on east coast time and got us early the next morning and were shuttled to the parade site with excellent
Sungold: The last I heard that is fake news and not true.
Recall: California and Chicago are perfect examples of what happens when Democrats test their stupidity....
Recall: Sun, this is real... I spoke with Dahle's office about it...he voted against
drmaria: Sun - what do you mean by "fake news"
Mike: fake news=lies
Recall: why is anyone surprised... they use taxpayer dollars to protect illegal alien felons... Deleon, waters, pelosi, boxer, feinstein, brown, newsome...we have a history of idiots
drmaria: So, I guess the state assembly all voted on Fake news....
drmaria: Recall don't forget Richard Pan
Sungold: I read early this morning that this was being reported out of context and the media is making a big deal out of it. I have not had the time to read further
Recall: this is the same group that were voting in new gun enforcement while one of their own was trafficking guns...
SYSTEM: Please welcome RallySally who just joined the chat.
Sungold: Getting ready to get down to Capelli's! Good Morning Maria
drmaria: Morning Sun!! Yay!! Say hi to the ladies!!
Sungold: Can't find what I read now, maybe I was dreaming!
Recall: they still recognize a queen... lets not use them as a standard for anything...lol
Mike: The Queen and the rest of the Royals are the biggest draw of their "tourism industry"
Recall: so are the monkeys in the zoo but not sure it should be viewed as a standard...lol
drmaria: Wow!! Recall you are on FIRE this morning!!! LOL
drmaria: Ask The VA patients
RallySally: According to the state Department of Finance, California gets $96 billion from the federal government, a figure almost as large as the state's $122 billion general fund. Those federal funds cover a massive share of the budget for health care, food stamps, welfare and other safety-net programs. thi
drmaria: RallySally..I wonder what CA is going to do if that Fed money goes away...or gets decreased...himmm
Recall: Marine Corps gives classes on how to view the community once you get discharged... if I recall... it was be polite...be professional...and have a plan to kill everyone you meet... seems to work !
Recall: wow...that was a great way of starting off the day... thank you
oonion_grower: The most important issue for Redding and Shasta county is a county jail expansion. An addict arrested for burglary will be held for one day until he makes bail. Now he gets out on own recognizance in a few hours.
Recall: nothing but sunshine and unicorns on this show...lol
oonion_grower: The addict waiting to make bail will experienced withdrawal. That may be enough to motivate him to move to Orville, Marysville, Eureka, etc.
Recall: 1a and 1b..... Jail and Pensions
oonion_grower: Without a jail expansion, addicts get a great deal in Redding. With a jail expansion, the 100 to 200 characters responsible for most of the crime will move where they get a better deal.
Mike: How much more in taxes are you willing to pay? California will continue to "de-criminalize" crime. Do you remember sixties movie "Wild in the streets"?
Recall: I'm moving to Finland...income without having to work...maybe we could charter flights for some of our street leeches..and some of the 'snow flakes' coming out of their safe zones..they can take their puppies, PlayDoh and coloring books
drmaria: Good morning Anje!!!!!
Recall: they should start a dontown business asociation... they could govern themselves and use their own money to make improvements...great idea
Recall: downtown
oonion_grower: The free fire radio show defeated measure d. It was the only place where the arguments against D could be heard. Measure D would not bring us any closer to the jail expansion. The city of Redding would find other ways to capture the funds.
Recall: "safer in the streets of Redding than in your own home" ...lol... you just have to love senility...it's so pure and innocent...
oonion_grower: The vote against measure D was a vote against business as usual by redding city staff. The raises, the way REU is run, the unfunded pension bubble, the bandits in building permits, etc.
drmaria: Yeahhhhhhh Just Bob!!! Thank you!!!!!
Recall: Don't look Back... Boston...
Recall: awesome
Mike: If you don't learn from history, you're doom to repeat it
oonion_grower: I think Sacramento wants out of the prison business, except for a few high security. Healthcare is a big factor. Lousy hospitals in Susanville, Pelican Bay, Avenal, etc. Prisoners are dying of valley fever in the SJ valley. Sacramento has to close those two prisons where Valley fever is so bad.
SYSTEM: Please welcome RallySally who just joined the chat.
SYSTEM: Please welcome karen who just joined the chat.
karen: Way to go Anje, keep getting the word out! Someday maybe someone at City Hall will grasp people want them to TAKE ACTION
Mike: If you want real change, you have to change Sacramento/Washington DC
karen: The community can't push anything forward when those in positions of power can legislate regulations and zoning that prohibits growth
Mike: Starmen needs to go.
karen: Imagine rather than blight, the Sacramento River were developed like San Antonio River Walk, with offices, restaurants, artists venues, and yes ... recreation!
Mike: Cadd did nothing for 4 years.
Recall: Mike...don't think you are looking at all the facts
karen: Redding needs accountability, maybe an elected Mayor that isn't controlled by the local foundations.
Mike: What did I miss?
Recall: he gave us access that we would have never had with out him
Mike: What access?
Recall: he was outvoted 4 to 1 on almost everything but being able to discuss things that we was not being made available..otherwise
oonion_grower: The unions own Paoletti and Starman. They are coasting to retirement.
Recall: Mike...I think there is a lot that happened that you just didn't see or get told about and Gary was the reason that much of it took place
karen: Recall does nothing if the structure of the City isn't changed where there is someone held accountable for their actions.
Recall: Recall will be the only way for the people to 'take back' this town and remove the 'headwinds' that are keeping us from moving forward in a sustainable way
karen: I lived in Redding for 40+ years and want to return. I live in Lake Forest, CA where it is one of the safest cities. My fear in returning to Redding is that it is so unsafe.
Mike: Please educate me. I attend council meeting and pay attension to whats going on. I've had Cadd lie to me and not follow thru.
Recall: lie about what ?
Recall: not follow thru on what ?
Mike: Promises made in regard to exposing the truth about what goes on @ city hall.
Recall: he exposed a great deal...not sure what other things you wanted him to expose...anything more and the district attorney would have gotten involved...
karen: Mike,Cadd getting into a mud slinging contest will do nothing to change the city. Everyone knows what's going on at City Hall, but don't know how to change it.
oonion_grower: The unions own starman and paoletti. Just like the unions own the VA. Those are lost causes. A county wide sales tax for a county jail would make a huge difference..
Mike: Karen. I disagree. TRhe overwhelming number of tax payers don't have a clue... If they did, we would have "cleaned house @ city hall. The on going waste and abuse would stop. Just look at the underhand way our 'RATES" were increased.
Recall: Mike...those actions (rates etc..) are going to be their undoing...
oonion_grower: Redding will be in municipal bankruptcy sometime in the next five to ten years. There will be many other CA cities going first. Only bankruptcy will allow the restructuring needed.
Recall: Anderson is a complete different direction when it comes to business support... reminds me of Redding years ago
Mike: I hope you're right. But I have little faith
Recall: it is already moving forward
Recall: Onion....you may be right...I hope we can avoid it...but it may end up being the best or only choice...
drmaria: Onion...maybe sooner....
karen: I was in Redding for the holidays and was appalled at the deterioration of the streets, the business areas, etc. It is beginning to look like a huge ghetto. Shameful.
Recall: with the adjustment of the CALPERS investment projections...the City's unfunded pensions are probably over 400 million and climbing
karen: THE SACRAMENTO RIVER ANJE!!
oonion_grower: Are they local? They should ask the right question: where did you attend high school? In fact, they went to high school elsewhere and came here . The homeless advocates cooked up misleading survey question to define "local".
SYSTEM: Please welcome Ticktock who just joined the chat.
Mike: PERS. There's another subject that the lite of day needs to shine.
karen: It could be like San Antonio River Walk
karen: Artists venues, restaurants, boutique hotels..
Mike: Wait. I thought Turtle Bay was going to do that.
Ticktock: Ownership of the river shoreline is the biggest problem. The Kutras family is not going to budge.
karen: But, McConnell Foundation has no vision and too much power!
Ticktock: And the other available shoreline has been made into office buildings.
Recall: before we attempt to make this a tourist area and bring in hundreds of millions... we need to get control of our infrastructure...city council..budgets..pensions...UNIONS...
karen: ALLOW KUTRAS FAMILY TO HAVE THEIR LAND BACK to develop. At one time they had a great plan done by a university to develop. Updated for today, they could probably do something incredible. Redding needs to work what they have, natural resources.
karen: Improve quality of life for people, and businesses would consider locating in Redding. It won't happen the other way around
Recall: Karen... 100% agree
Ticktock: Redding refuses to do anything serious about crime. Most people would rather say it should be fixed without raising any money for jail space, police and mental health services.
drmaria: Yes Karen!!
Ticktock: There is just NO serious will to do anything about it.
karen: Ticktock, Kutras family is being handcuffed by McConnell Foundation that holds leases on much of the property.
Mike: Turtle Bay, Sun dail bridge, trails, parks, new "Plunge", Field of Dreams, Tiger Field, Stillwater: The same people who sold and promoted these projects, are still running the city/county.
Mike: Park Marina will happen, but only after McConnell and the city are out of the way.
Recall: lifetime bureaucrats ... leading clueless council members... formula for bankruptcy
karen: Those are all good amenities for the City to have, BUT, imagine vacation rental cottages, art and crafts cottages, music venues, with boutique hotels, recreation opportunities along the river!
karen: Once quality of life is improved in whole city, businesses come, tax base grows.
oonion_grower: 10 to 12 years ago, Redding appeared to be a good retirement community, a good place to invest. That all changed when crime took over. The only achievable solution to crime is a county wide sales tax for a county jail. Basically, measure D and E, but county, not city run.
karen: >>> Without someone that has POWER to change things, and some accountability, there will never be change.
Recall: the only real change has not happened... starman must go..and a few other overpaid individuals
Ticktock: Oh good lord, the Kutras-McConnel Feud has been going on for a decade. There's no reason to think the bottle neck will ever release. Which makes the guest's point of making a San antonio riverwalk a pointless conversation. http://mbeauchamp.blogs.redding.com/2015/03/a-history-of-park-marina-and-re
Ticktock: I think Redding has gone past the point of no return on crime. It just isn't going to get better.
Recall: lol
karen: Ticktock, actually the leases expire in the next few years, and hopefully Kutras' will use the property for the betterment of the City. If not, there's always Eminent Domain, because the River is far too important to let it be wasted. And I HATE ED
Recall: TickTock... I would guess that the 'sky is falling' where you live ? lol
Ticktock: Recall - wake up and look around. Theft is rampant. Police are ineffective.
Recall: those fees are so high because they have large salaries that must be paid... can't cut anything as the infrastructure is so high
Ticktock: Kutras will do exactly what is good for Kutras and nothing more.
Recall: Tick..we should just give up...
Ticktock: Better yet - move out of Redding.
karen: Recall, yes giving up is always the answer! That's exactly what the Council wants, people to give in
Mike: Rate increase
Recall: and the Kutras's should just give up their property for the good of the city ? lol..
karen: I already moved out of Redding, but would love to go back. I love the beauty of the area, but hate the danger.
