The cop said the school zone was not in effect because no children were present, so I violated the minimum speed ordinance

Ebay_shopper: In police academy, they teach how to trick drivers so they can write tickets. Of course, it does nothing to promote public safety.

Sungold: When I worked with RPD and they were hiring, we got laterals from other cities, who wanted to come to our area. Redding had to compete with other cities and what they paid in order to get the best person for the department. They will go to other cities for the better pay

Mike: It's called "priorities" The vote to raise sales tax, should have been a vote on "parks/trails". Fund city public safety first...

Ebay_shopper: Redding releasess sales tax receipts numbers only after they are audited. The published numbers are way out of date. Voters should be able to see the unaudited numbers and the trend. Gary Cadd gave us some up to date numbers when he was on Free Fire radio.

Sungold: Chief Blankenship explained it very well to those of us who sat in on the interview process.

Ebay_shopper: We hear this propaganda that cops are the best and the brightest. In the USN, a sailor who is a screw up gets sent to be a master at arms. In the USAF the air police is the dumping ground for screw ups. Don't imagine the best marines are gate guards.

Sungold: Ebay......most officers I knew went to Command College, it was usually an 18 month course, intense and took time away from the family. Others went to Quantico for more training and to advance in their career.

RTE: Police are needed but we need to allow ourselves more right to protect ourselves. If you have to pull out your piece and use it, you then face legal scrutiny that will cost you thousands.
