The county sales tax is the fastest and best way to get the jail expansion. The idea of the city collecting a tax for a county jail is nuts. The city would skim off the money and tie it up in lawsuits.

Measure D would have meant zero dollars for the jail. Walt mcneil would have sued to block transfer of funds from city to county. A county wide tax run by the board of supervisors is the only way to keep city of redding from taking all the money and blocking transfer of funds.

The democrats in Sac consider prop 47 a success. The state voted for business as usual in Nov. We will see another round of dumping prisoners on the counties. The counties with sales taxes can handle it. Shasta will experience the crime until we get a county sales tax for a county jail.
